I'm a hardcore distance runner, but unfortunately just short of D1-ivy caliber. Definitely not good enough for stanford
- XC 9,10,11,12. Captain 11,12
- Indoor 9,10,11,12. Captain 12 (probably)
- Outdoor 9,10,11,12. Captain 12 (probably)
- Some essays topics will definitely include running since it's a big part of my life
- Times are 800 - 2:09, 1600 - 4:39, 5k - 17:55. Hopefully will drop a sub 16:30 this fall as my training is going real well. MIght help a little in admissions
- 4x1600 relay school record (dunno if that's worth anything?)
- Will continue in college no matter where I go

~Other

Essays - will either be about running and/or my experience at Cornell
Recs - One from my coach, so probably personal as we're good friends. Dunno about the other.

Nice time on the 5K! Nice stats! :D

Your stats are nice overall, the english tutoring and math team top scorer
stood out as I was reading your post.

IMO Stanford focuses on essays big time. if you put in iteratively about
30+ hours polishing and repolishing your essays taking out fluff -
you probably may make it
in SCEA.....

what I did not get reading your stats was your core passion....if it is running ....some major awards or at least achievements from your personal
persepctive may be valuable?

Cheers :)

I'd say you have a good shot.

Being a two sport captain is a plus, and probably a big one at that. In your application, I would try and show that one other of your EC's is big along with running, something to give their picture of you a bit of balance. But, do not by any means let this keep you from listing all the things about running you want.

And on that subject, some meaningful things to include: school records, conference/district places you won, and possibly state meet participation, things of that nature. I would shy away from simply putting times on your application, as I don't think that will help you as much as physical awards or recognitions you have won through participating in the sport.
