So if I have a 3.92 GPA and a 1440 SAT score is it possible to get accepted into a UC?
(I participate in many extra-curricular activites, 1st generation, latino/hispanic, take many AP classes, and I will take the SAT II this november, I'm ranked 36 in my class out of 380 students)

My top priority is UC Santa Cruz and my last resort is San Jose state.
If I don't get into UC Santa Cruz or any other UC should I go to San Jose State or CCC?
(Major:Computer Engineering)

TAKE THE SAT AGAIN. I dont want to sound mean, but a 1440 is HORRIBLE. Quite frankly, there is no way i can see you getting into a uc right now. They do value the gpa more, but that SAT is sooo bad. If you can get that up to a 17-1800 you can get into a uc but other than that… sorry

Retake your SAT. Take the ACT in December as well. San Jose state, surprisingly enough, is starting to get competitive. They sent out 500 letters of “sorry, you’re no longer accepted” last year. A state college will always preside over a CCC though.

Your GPA is excellent, definitely, but are you in honors courses?

What about your EC’s?

And make sure you take the SAT subject tests as well.

Hopefully I’ll see you at SC next fall. Its my top priority as well. Good luck!
