He has a 2.9 Unweighted, 32 ACT, 5’s on AP Comp sci and AP Physics. Hes puerto rican, has been captain of the robotics team for 3 years and he’s been on our Acadec team for two years(3rd at the national finals, twice state champions )

Good ACT, terrible GPA, and GPA is worth more. I would also guess he is not in the top 1/2 of the class which is another strike. Very Doubtful (and that is assuming he is in-state).
Erin’s dad: “terrible gpa” is a bit harsh. I hope you know that gpa varies relative to the difficulty of the school + teachers. Sorry but I wouldn’t listen to this guy ^… I would say that he has a very good chance, especially with such amazing EC’s.
Just letting know at our high school (in illinois), the lowest person accepted had a 2.67 weighted 19 ACT. Plus most of the 32+ ACT scorers/3.0’s got in from our school… Good luck and I hope he gets in
Hey there, I’m the friend(made an account for this) Thank’s for the feedback Blargen. Nice to have some reassurance, especially for a C student. I’ll hope it goes well when I apply next year, haha
@Harvard98 If you’re friend is an out of state student, it’ll be pretty hard for him to get in. Looking at the amount of AP classes he’s taken (2 completed so far) and his u/w 2.9 gpa, it might be a struggle for him to get in. If you are OOS, you are supposed to have a higher gpa and better test scores. But I’m just giving some advice. What would be better for me to have a more holistic view of your friend is also the honors classes he’s taken, whether or not he has earned any INDIVIDUAL awards, what caused his gpa to be slightly lower than the “ideal” gpa, and the overall profile of your school. Good luck to your friend!
