Hello, I'm a junior in high school at a college prep high school. I'm trying to figure out if I could get into either SDSU OR UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO. I am out of state.

Gpa- 3.0 (trying to get it up)
Sat- (haven't taken it but I hope to get around 1700
Honors course
Religious affiliation- Roman Catholic (my school is a catholic private school)
Extra curriculars- cross country, track, prom committee Asian American club
Ethnicity- Caucasian
Over 50 hours of volunteer work
Have had 3 jobs

I actually also started a online amazon business with over $20,000 in sales also.

Would I have a chance of getting in to either of these colleges?

USD - they look at the whole appplicant -so, maybe. Better GPA and test scores would help.

SDSU is the most competitive CSU so, you probably don’t stand much of a chance without a dramatic bump in GPA and a 2000+ SAT.

All the CSUs except SLO use the same simple index to rank appplicants.

They use a somewhat different GPA, including only college prep classes, give bonus points for Honors and AP, exclude freshman year and don’t count + or -. They only count M and R sections of the SAT.
Read about it here:
<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;

GPA * 800 +SAT = CSU Index
As a non-local California resident, you’ll need an index around 4100 to be comfortably admitted.

so, 3.0 CSU GPA and 590 Math, 610 Reading gives an index of 3600.

Assuming you are taking a few AP courses, you could bring your GPA up a lot this year.
