I submitted my Wellesley application weeks ago, but I was rereading my supplementary essay today and noticed a typo. I wrote "alumna" instead of "alumnae." Do you think I can still get in despite this if everything else is up to par???????????? I thought it was a very strong essay otherwise. Thanks for any help...I'm completely distraught.

Sorry, you basically screwed yourself over right there. Take a English 101 at your local community college.

Colleges value spelling greatly, as you know, and messing up one word may very well cost you your admission.
Go to a community college for 2 years, then reapply, hopefully they will forget about your huge error (I doubt it though).

^he’s joking & you’re fine, relax
