ok here is the deal five years ago YES!!!!!
next year NO... :(
next year is going to be the hardest year to get into any college in the country. This is pretty much due to the baby boomers children all maturing and going to college at the same time. less competitive school "backups" are becoming hard to get into. A great example of this is northeastern. Admission Rate has dropped 40% within the last five years. Penn dropped two points last year and i will expect at least a three or four point drop this year. With so many kids the applicant pool becomes huge (20,000+) and the schools can find perfect candidates. There are even more perfect candidates than the schools can admit and it totally becomes a crap shoot. btw what will hurt you is your unwated gpa

whartons acceptance rate was 8%, with (i think) over 6000 aps. remember that the vast majority of recruited athletes choose wharton, so theres only a few hundred spots left.

having said that, if u have ur heart set on wharton, go for it ED. the sat math IIC is absolutely critical, so a 750 would put u in a good position. ur sat i isnt the strongest, but it shouldnt kill ur chances

wharton does tend to look at some ecs more, so internships (e.g. Lehman Brothers) will definitely be a HUGE help.

also, id say ur a legit match at everywhere but NYU, gtown, and WUSTL (emory would be the strongest ). from what friends who go to gtown have told me, its bschool is the least selective school, so id say u have a good shot there too. WUSTL is always hard to predict bc they admit a small number of students to make themselves more selective (raising their rankings) and then take a bunch off the waitlist. and id say ur more of a reach at NYU, but i def wouldnt be shocked if u got in

Thanks for the input....but how do you know "that the vast majority of recruited athletes choose wharton, so theres only a few hundred spots left" I always assumed that theyd choose the college of arts and sciences? Waffle Iron are you saying you think im a legit match at Penn too since you said everywhere but NYU, WU, and Gtown? By the way my lehman brothers internship wont be till the summer of next year but i did have a financial internship this whole year and next (its on my transcripts as class credit for financial internship too-will that be a HUGE help like you referred to Lehman Brothers?) Also, will having 1 full year long business class all 4 years (2 jr yr) help a lot? Thanks everyone!

Your GPA is fine. Why did someone just say that your GPA actually impedes with your chance of getting in?

Idk...i know that the average incoming gpa at Penn is 3.83 and that Whartons is probably a little higher but my school is tough on As and since its a ranked school and my W. GPA is top 1 or 2% I think its ok but i dont mind n e ones opinions.

i know students from my school currently at penn who can claim, with certainty, that most incoming athletes chose wharton, because wharton is the most well regarded program and theyre guaranteed acceptance.

also, i should clarify. ur a more of a match at gtowns b school, less so (but definetly still have a shot) at the regular college and foreign service school.
i dont know enough to chance u at WU, bc theyplay to thier rankings in the round of admissions heavily
i wouldnt say ur a slight reach at NYUs bschool, but u should prob get in to the regular, undergrad school (i dont know wat its called).

finally, id say ur a reach at wharton, but dont not apply bc ur app is strong

i know wat im talking about here, as i researched the undergrad bschools heavily this past year. i decided to apply to wharton, who deferred then rejected me (the only other app from my school was waitlisted, then accepted) feel free to ask any questions

I know there is a section under the apps where you list your work experience...I have two jobs and did a financial internship over 1 summer yet that was counted as class credit as part of the business dept at my school. Do I still list that under jobs even though its represented on my transcripts already???

no u can't

To all of you who are calling the naysayers idiots, they are probably just fed up with all of these chance threads. Honestly, I made a couple when I first joined, and then I realized that I had gotten the same generic answers for my chance threads. The answers will not change, unless the poster has some terribly different, odd story. The OP's is no different. Just apply. Anything can happen. You have as good a chance of getting in as anybody else, period.

EDIT: If the OP looked at the ED/RD results for UPenn, then he or she might have gotten a good feel for where he or she stands, but I suppose that's too much to ask of anybody, these days.

Or maybe, just maybe, people like to get a little bit more feedback, or opinions, and stuff like that but i suppose thats too much for you to comprehend and understand. Idiot.

Stuff you can't post on CC is far too important for any of these chances assessments to be worth anything. The best thing to do is go to the decision results threads and your GC/college counselor at school and see where your SAT and GPA measure compared to past applicants.

Venkat precisely said the same.

And numbers won't tell you anything either. Really, if all the numbers were the same, Penn would pick whoever they liked. Being that they aren't, they still do that.

Keep propelling yourself be a go-getter!

Really impressive

FMHS, you got offended when someone called you heterosexual. I wouldn't be calling ANYONE an idiot if I were you.

FMHS1, sounds like you're been rather defensive of yourself after some limited criticisms. but anyhow

for top colleges, you have a terrible SAT, mediocre rank/gpa, good ECs (albeit i'd get rid of some of the bogus stuff like "hockey club" or "who's who among HS students".

you aren't getting into wharton. ed or not.

FMHS, I think you are a really hard person to like. personally, I really wouldn't want to meet you in real life. You sound like a real jack@$$. And by the looks of things, you only seem "book-smart"(if that....which I doubt) I've never met anyone who doesn't know the difference between heterosexual and homosexual.

You can't come on CC and ask for chances threads with such a bitter and acrimonious attitude. People will most likely get disgusted and repulsed.
