Hey everyone,
My name is Edward and I am currently a sophomore at a rigorous private catholic school in Maryland. I wanted to know my chances of getting into Wharton undergrad.
Stuff to know about me:
I have a 4.0 unweighted and weighted GPA. My SAT score will probably be 2100-2300, act will probably be 32-35. I do lots of stuff. I am/will be a four year cross country and track athlete, not insane though. I do VEX robotics and my teams placed 9th in the world last year and we hope to get top 10 this year as well. I am part of the leadership institute and partake in seminars and lectures for that. I am currently taking apwh and i hope to take macro economics. I chartered FBLA at my school as a sophomore. MY GREAT UNCLE IS THE UN SECRETARY GENERAL. I don’t know if that helps. I hope it does. I will take calc ab or Bc senior year. I will most likely get 4/5 in all my ap exams. My parents are immigrsnts from Portugal and Sweden, father and mother respectively.
If someone could tell me that would be awesome!!!
I am also a also an elected homeroom representative (a member of student council) I will complet 2~3 internships involving business and leadership. 1bejng an international startup printing company that I will travel to Portugal to do. I am also in the mcmullen scholars program one of the most rigorous academic program in Maryland.
I will also be in NHS and SNHS
- You're a sophomore--calm down.
- Can't chance you based on what you think your SAT/ACT scores will be. Also, the SAT isn't on the 2400 scale anymore.
- Can't chance you based on what you think your AP scores will be.
- Your great uncle's job is irrelevant.
- Can't chance you based on the internships you hope/think you will get.
- Can't chance you because you think you will get into NHS.
- Can't chance you based on the classes you think you will take or the grades you think you will get.
Everything you stated is best-case-scenario. A lot can change over two years. Calm down, and do your best for the next two years. Don’t count on all of these things happening.
To quote Sheldon Cooper: “You’ve confused possibilities with probabilities. According to your analogy, when I go home, I might find a million dollars on my bed or I might not. In what universe is that 50/50?”
It does not help you. If he were applying to Wharton, it would help **him/b
Will not matter.
Nice pieces of paper that will not matter in the admissions process.
As noted by the above user, asking for chances without actual data is pointless. People will be more than happy to give guidance once you have some actual results. Even then, your chances will be 1:10, at best. For now, focus on HS.
It is too early to think about specific colleges (especially the hyper-competitive ones). You just have one full year’s GPA and you have no standardized testing. You also need to recognize that HS should be an experience in and of itself – a time of learning and growth and not just a 4 year college application prep experience.
It is good to take school seriously and know that college will be on your horizon, but it is too early to start planning for specific colleges. I would highly recommend that you get off of CC until your junior year.
For now you should focus on:
–Working hard, learning, and doing as well as you can in the most challenging curriculum you can manage.
–When the time comes study for standardized tests.
–Continue your involvement in activities you care about and work towards making meaningful contributions to those activities.
–Enjoying spending time with your family and friends.
When the time comes asses your academic stats (including GPA, standardized tests, course rigor) as well as your financial needs and apply to a wide range of reach, match, and safety schools that appear affordable (you will have to run a net price calculator for each school you consider) and that you would be happy to attend. You need to expand your horizons and recognize that there are many wonderful schools out there where you can have a great 4 year experience and get where you want to go in life.
Like others have stated to early to be chanced. My advice would be to maintain your grades, keep high GPA (4.0up), test positively on the SAT (1500up) /ACT (34up), and try to take the hardest workload that your school offers THAT YOU CAN HANDLE. Don’t go overboard. Maintain your extracurricular activity. Make sure your Essay conveys why you over the other applicants with similar STATS. Note: My numbers are GOALS not RULES.
thankyou
develop leadership in your EC’s. More important than an uncle.
Your great uncle could help for sure. The UN Secretary General is a huge deal. Just make sure you somehow mention the connection either in one of your essays or somewhere else appropriate in the app. You will be able to have a better idea of your chances once you have actually taken the SAT and/or ACT. Also don’t forget to take at least two subject tests and especially math II, Wharton wants that. If Wharton is your top choice you should do ED. Penn loves its ED applicants, and I think they would be keen to lock down a reasonably well-connected student like yourself, provided you also have competitive academic stats.
