I had a 3.79(W) from a competitive high school, 2210 on the sat, 800 on Math II, and 750 on subject tests with lots of extracurriculars in music- band and orchestra with some leadership positions. The reason for my "not so good" grades is that I wanted to be a music major for much of my time in high school, so I focused on that. Half-way through my junior year, I changed my mind and wanted to major in poli sci and be a lawyer.

And I got rejected from almost every single UC I applied to: UCI, UCSD, UCLA, UCSB. don't feel very hopeful for berkeley or davis.

I didn't apply to SC, though I wish I had.

I got into some out of state publics, and privates. Like U of Pittsburgh, Syracuse, UIUC, Drexel, and I'm waiting on NYU and Carnegie Mellon which I doubt I'll get into.

So, my parents want me to go to UCR since it's the cheapest for them...but idk. It's ranked a lot lower than some other schools I got into, but hey, money comes first in this economy I guess.

so i'll probably go to UCR. And i'm not going to a JCC after working this hard in high school, I want a real college experience. So worst comes to worst, I'll transfer out of UCR.

But hey, I visited this school, and campus and professor wise, it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone, but it has a HORRIBLE rep at my school, people say they would rather go to a JCC than UCR. But a few other people with my stats got rejected from the mid and top UCs, so they may end up at UCR or a JCC.

But still, I don't this hatred of UCR is everywhere is it? I mean, like, everyone says where you go for undergrad doesn't matter(except to brag off i guess, that's like the whole point) if you're aiming for graduate school. So say I didn't transfer from UCR and stayed there for all four years.

Since UCR is ranked much lower than the usual feeder schools to the elite law schools, what more would I have to do at UCR to be considered for those schools? Would I need a 4.0, close to perfect LSAT score, and lots of extracurriculars? Would I have to work significantly harder to OWN the crap out of UCR as opposed to let's say someone at UC Berkeley that gets a 3.6 and good LSAT scores, but no extracurriculars/special talents?

Thank you so much. Sorry, I don't mean to bag on UCR, but I really didn't see myself coming here when overall it's not much of a competitive school to get into. Some people I know with really low stats (3.0 weighted, 1500 sat out of 2400) got in, and when put with them...it feels kind of low. But whatever, I'm sure the faculty is good....
