Can I improve 5+ points in 5 weeks with a private tutor?

I’m currently a junior, and I’ve taken the ACT twice and gotten a 25 composite both times. (S:24, E: 26 have stayed the same both times) I didn’t study for the first one I took, and for the second one i did minimal studying so I’m not suprised my scores stayed the same.

My top schools are UMich (my dream school), UW-Madison, Boston U, etc… All schools that require a 30+ to be competitive.

The June ACT is in 5 weeks. I’ve hired a private tutor to work with me twice a week for 2 hours at a time, so I’d be getting 4 hours a week of tutoring, plus an extra hour per week with another tutor that I have for my math class in school who’s helping me with the math sections. Plus studying on my own on the weekends, too.

My goal is to get a 31 or 32 to be competitive enough for UMich (I’m instate). Do you think 5 weeks and
~20ish hours of tutoring would be enough to boost me up to a 30+? I’m definitely going to take the September ACT because I’m feeling a little insecure about improving 5 points that quickly, plus all the stress is hurting me even more, and I don’t even wanna imagine what it’s gonna be like on test day. However, if I don’t improve my score on this June test (I think a reasonable improvement would be a 28 but I’m trying to be more optimistic than that), the September test will be my only chance to get a good enough score to apply early action.

Do you think I could do it? If anyone has any tips or advice… I desperately need it.

I know a guy that has gone from a 23 to a 33. It’s possible, and that’s actually a big problem with the ACT - it’s super coachable. Best of luck to you and don’t kill yourself over a standardized test. They’ll value your body of work and extracurriculars much more. I’d argue you’d be better off taking all/most of your time getting tutored and put it towards working for a charity/organization you’re passionate about it’d be more beneficial for your college application.
