Can I lose a scholarship for Um Smoking the reefer?

Do schools test for that when they give out scholarships? <_<

how bout u stop um smoking teh reefer before you lose something more important to you, your friends, family, and life.

I hope you're joking. o_o; What school gives away money to potheads? I guess if they don't know..

"how bout u stop um smoking teh reefer before you lose something more important to you, your friends, family, and life."
Lawl, soccer mom.

But no, I am not joking. I really do smoke and am wondering if I can lose my scholarship due to smoking.

Geez, CC people! "You want to go to a school with good parties? How dare you!" "You smoke pot? You must lose at life!" Nice job stereotyping!

... And I'm pretty sure they don't.

Actually to be serious, you should be cautious, because I know someone on my Track team who got a full scholarship to many schools, but they did medical checks on him and realized that he was a heavy alcoholic...he lost all scholarships and is now going to a community college.

Well you can definitely lose a scholarship if you're found in possession of illegal substances. The number of kids that actually happens to is probably pretty low, though. You can keep smoking pot if you want. But there is a chance you're taking a risk...

I would guess pot is less traceable than heavy alcoholism. But if you're on a sports team be especially careful.

O_o How could they tell if he had been drinking? Isn't the only damage done by alcohol done to the liver?

what MAY be a problem, if you get the scholarship and you get caught at the school...fair or not....it could be a problem if there is some sort of code thing you sign to keep the money and must keep in good standing etc

I haven't had to sign anything yet, and the only way they said I could lose my scholarship is if my grades fall below a 3.25 GPA.(I'm assuming they think I don't drink/smoke). But ty, I'll deff check out the "fine print" if I have to sign anything.

I wasn't saying I have anything against people who smoke pot. I have friends who do, one of whom is one of the smartest people I know. Drug/Alcohol use and intelligence are not mutually exclusive. However, I don't think colleges feel the same way. If that is what you want to do, cool.

I don't see many colleges making all the "super smart kids" pee in the cup. You never know, though, so I wouldn't risk it.

Hey, there a quite a few systems you can use to clean out your body on short notice, at least for the purposes of detection. This is a risk to take, to depend on one of these systems, but you could handle your risk sensibly in the following fashion: Smoke massive amounts of dope between now and the time you think you might have the test. Then use one of the systems a couple of times (they are for sale at head shops). If the test comes up positive when you take it, start with the "I have never smoked in my life, but must have inhaled some at the party of a friend of mine defense." You have to stick to your guns on this defense, but even with your fortitude it is unlikely to work. If it doesn't work, you'll be okay, 'cause you will have been getting deeply baked a lot and probably feel fairly indifferent to losing your scholarship (at least relative to someone unbaked). And then you'll be free to indulge further without concern about the stupid school and scholarship. On the other hand, if you pass the test, you can continue to bake with impunity as you go on and attempt to become a model, if baked, student. You may eventually lose motivation to do anything else, but you will enjoy your dilatory life at least for awhile, and in the meantime, may accidentally sire a kid or two, which would make life's grand adventure even wilder. Have fun.

It's a foolish risk to take. Get caught and you're out for many, many jobs. I'd suspect you're an adult now, so the arrest would forever follow you.

Not worth it.

Not worth it."

Wouldn't it just be a misdemeanor?

The point we are making is this...schools are getting strick when it comes to drugs and alcohol...have you seen the posts about kids getting kicked out? not alot, but IF say, you get busted in your room for smoking a joint, the smell does carry, it is possible that if you go before a disciplanry committee, or get a warning, it might get reported to the scholarship people who want the money to go to kids who behave themselves, generally

we are not talking the LAW here necesassirly, nor the fairness, but IF you get caught, it COULD have a ripple effect

you asked

"I would guess pot is less traceable than heavy alcoholism."
Nah...apparently it stays in your system for a month! Why not just cut it out for a while and #1. Secure your spot at college and #2. See if you can do without it...cutting that habit will save you time and money lollll

I think I'm one of the prejudiced people .. my question is, why are you smoking in the first place? I would think that if you are a scholarship recipient, you have higher standards.

Other than the stigma against any kind of drugs, whether harmful or not, what is the problem with smoking pot?

I'll give you one argument: it makes you apathetic. Beyond that, I don't see a problem.

pot should be legalized...

but anyways, unless it's an athletic scholarship they won't make u pee in a cup, or shave ur pubic hairs to test for drugs. Just don't get caught with it.
