<p>I'm at Rice, and I would estimate about 1/3rd of the campus smokes pot. It isn't that uncommon and isn't that bad. I don't do it myself, but I don't think much less of a person if they smoke occassionally. When you smoke so much that it becomes habit and ruins your relationships with others is where you should draw the line--this holds true for anything.</p>

<p>I was promised a 10,000 dollar scholarship and only need a 90 point boost on my SAT for my full ride.</p>
<p>You will lose eligibility for federal financial aid (loans, grants etc) if you get a drug conviction. If you get caught with it at school you run the risk of getting thrown out of school (there was a thread a few days about a student being kicked out of his college for being caught a 2nd time with alcohol & I would think pot runs the same risk). So losing a scholarship would probably be the least of your worries.</p>

<p>penguin: i actually have heard that there are random drug tests at some universities for scholarship kids and spec. programs. also, before you go to college you get a check up done which sometimes includes the pee-in-a-cup routine. </p>

<p>but no, btw, parent2noles is right. an arrest for drug possesion will mess you up for most professions. no med school, law school is a stretch....and i mean other than that what is there to do????? (sarcasm...)</p>
