I previously went to TJHSST in Alexandria Virginia my freshmen year and recieved a GPA of 2.955 unweighted scoring and I scored low in my math course. I am planning on retaking the course over the summer for math non honors, and it will most probably be an A. Based on my current standings is there a way that I can make it into MIT if I am enrolled in a local IB Program or enroll in STEM focused AP courses?

If I read this correctly, your freshman GPA was below 3.0 and you had “low” math grades and you want to get into arguably one of the top STEM schools in the world?

Well, you’ll need a huge upward trend (think pretty much straight As for the the next three years) and then get 2300 or higher on the SAT and then you might be among the qualified applicants to MIT of which >90% get rejected.

Cross MIT off your list and chose a school that does not look at freshmen grades (i.e Stanford University). You would have a MUCH better shot at getting in! :)

Yeah man I have a friend who goes to MIT and he was 3rd in his class and make straight As all 4 years not to mention high sats… Like my friend says you may want to apply to less competitive schools and cross mit off and shoot for competitive schools that don’t look at freshman grades. Also don’t forget extracurriculars
