I just got accepted to UCLA, and I want to keep my motorcycle when I go off to university. Have you heard of any students able to secure parking while living on campus? Is there specific motorcycle parking for the dorms, and is it secure (able to lock it, etc)? If you know anyone who owns a motorcycle and parks it at his/her dorm, it would be great if you could get me into contact with them!

Yes you can definitely bring your motorcycle (and parking is free!) - I had one while I lived in the dorms. There are motorcycle specific parking spaces where you can park. Not sure if this lot it still there, but the one underneath Sproul had lots of motorcycle spots that had locking points embedded in the concrete for you to lock your bike. Otherwise, lot 11 has motorcycle spots.

Sunset Village has motorcycle spots. Sproul’s parking lot isn’t currently open and I’d imagine will remain closed until construction is complete.

Thats great news. How about the relative safety of the area. Have you heard of many motorcycles getting stolen? A disc lock, alarm, and cover are going to be used. Locking the frame to something would be great too(Icarus, you mentioned Sproul had locking points in the concrete, noticed any other spots that had that too?).

buddy had a vespa stolen out of deneve parking garage during spring break…
schooldays should be no problems with security, but if you were to leave it over spring/summer/winter break, try to keep it in a friend’s parking garage.

These posts are missing the main issue. If you are a rider you know your bike can get stolen anywhere…please do not underestimate the actual risk. Riding is extremely dangerous in LA. If you have just been accepted to LA you do not have the experience to ride here. Please listen, I am a born and raised Harley Davidson rider…the very real kind, the kind that friend’s fight against helmet laws because they are insane. Listen it is not safe to drive an M1 in LA and especially in Westwood. Every year at least one student is seriously injured…I mean lost limb, half of their face taken off…it is not due to your abilities, though at our age…and I know you think you are special, we all do…you are not equipped to handle what you will be experiencing in Westwood alone…most of these people shouldn’t even be driving cars…you will not have the speed, maneuvering capability or accuracy (due to your bike alone…not even skill) that is need to avoid the drivers that will left turn in front of you unaware you are there…please don’t be stupid, I love motorcycles but right place right time, it isn’t worth your life
