I’m a freshman and I’m taking Calc BC (I was able to because in eighth grade I took Calc AB online–note: don’t ever take any course online; you’ll be cheated out of real knowledge with a fake A and no understanding of the material whatsoever), and over the course of the year, I haven’t been able to study as much as I’d like for Calc BC tests (resulting in my average grades to be around 91% and tests averaging around 88%) because of other serious extracurriculars and lack of good study environments…Also because I had a weak foundation in Calc AB, Calc BC hasn’t come easily to me.
So over the year I guess I’ve basically grasped the concepts okay (kinda struggled cause of the weak foundation, but I think I’m getting there), but the part of the BC exam I’m really scared about is FRQ. I can get about 34-40 on the multiple choice when practicing, but for FRQ…I’m really not sure. Honestly I think I’d get like a 30% max on that part.
…Basically starting from tomorrow, with intense review of all the concepts starting from Day 1, and practice with the BC sample exams, can I get a 3 (or higher) on the exam on May 5th? (My family isn’t going to let me get a refund on the test because money is tight right now…, so it’d be best if I could pass)
Yes. Look at (and do) FRQ’s from past years. One thing I regret when reviewing is there was a problem from a prior year that I could not figure out, and I just skipped it. Well, wouldn’t you know, a very similar problem showed up on my exam. Needless to say, I blew that question. So practice as many problems you can, because you never know what might reappear.
You might want to consider using a few AP prep websites, you’ll be able to get a broad range of study information and since it’s online, repetitive studying is made relatively easy. Here’s a few website to get you started!
I would use integralcalc for calc BC review. Her calc 2 videos are incredible compared to the rest of the videos out there like khanacademy and patrickjmt.
Are there solutions to the FRQ’s? I just saw the answers from the College Board but no in-depth explanations? Are there any links to those as some of them I have no idea how to do.
