How to get a 5 on AP Calc AB!

Hey guys!
So, for you future AP Calc takers, i just wanted to let you guys know what it really takes to get a 5 on the Calc ab exam.
Now, this is coming from someone who really did bad in calc, probably for the whole first semester. But i did get a 5 on the exam at the end.I didn’t really do so well until i actually started studying. (shocker right?) Anyways, studying your teachers notes can help, and i’m not telling you to not, but it might not be the most efficient. So here’s what I did…
I printed out the last 5 years worth of FRQs and answers. I did each FRQ and I studied them. And I noticed that there was a pattern every single year. There is always an FRQ about velocity, position and acceleration, area under the curve, differential equations, and interpreting a table of values. I noticed that the style of the problem was the same each and every year. So when I took a practice test, the FRQ portion was really easy for me and it really boosted my score. I always only got like half of the multiple choice right. I probably started studying like this a month before the exam and I didn’t study at all the day before the exam tbh. So that’s all i did. I just studied the FRQs and it was enough to boost my score! Once i started doing that, i started to really understand calculus and that was worth it for me. Now i get to take calc 2 next year!

Yea, Calc AB exam is really linear and predictable. Easy 5 tbh

@Meteoric

If memory serves just under 25% of the students got 5’s on the Calc AB exam. I daresay that the other 75% do not agree with your statement.

Yeah it’s hard to get a 5 on any ap exam unless you really study. My class was a pretty smart class and only 3 people got 5s in a class of 20. So it definitely takes effort, just like any ap exam.

@Flowergirl98 It takes some effort, but if you really understand the concepts covered and do a good amount of practice (particularly with the more routine exercises, such as computing derivatives or integrals using the few methods that you are tested on), getting a 5 on Calculus AB isn’t that difficult.

I got a 5 this year. Honestly I don’t know how because that funnel problem made me feel personally victimized.
