Hello everyone! How are you all? I hope you’re all doing well. I just had a question about putting an activity on an application and was hoping to hear from you guys. I’m sorry in advance for taking up time.
The time has come for the students in my class to apply to National Honor Society if interested. On the application, there is a section where you get to put down any community service or community service club activities you were a part of. I was part of the Key Club my sophomore year (I am currently a junior). However, my membership was kind of a strange one.
During the interest meeting of Key Club, I signed up to become a member of the Key Club. After signing up, we had to put in our emails, grade, and keep a look-out on when the meetings for Key Club will be. However, the people running the club never put me on the list. I tried to participate in the club by going to the officers of the club as often as I could and requesting that my email was added, and I went to every event my friends told me about, but the officers never acknowledged me by adding me to the email list. The President of the Key Club was someone I knew, so I tried to get into contact with her, but she would ignore everything I asked her or told her. Even though I didn’t go to every meeting or every outside activity, I conducted work for the Key Club whenever I knew something was up. Would it be okay for me to put the Key Club as something I did as community service, or should I go on the safer side and not add it? Because I did not attend every meeting, I feel like it would be wrong for me to put that I was a member of the club, especially because the club excluded me from their ceremony at the end of the year. I also don’t want to say I did something just for the sake of doing it. I genuinely like doing community service and helping others.
I know this may be a silly and whiny question, and I’m really sorry. I just wanted to make sure.
Thanks a lot and have a nice day!
