In November I’m going to apply to a few colleges for Early Action and Decision. My semester doesn’t end until late December. Am I allowed to send in a late mid-year report to Georgetown, Haverford, and Vassar? Can I even apply for early action/decision without the mid-year report?
Typically, you will have a decision before your mid-year report is available. If you feel that your mid-year report is important to your application (i.e., you need the upward trend), you may not want to apply ED1.
Do you understand that you can only apply to 1 of those schools in the early 1 round?
What most people do is to send in their mid semester grades for ED/EA. You do not need to wait for your mid year grades for ED. When my kids and my nephews applied ED, that’s what they did. One of nephews had never taken an AP until senior fall (due to school transfer issues), had As in all of his AP classes as of first quarter, and his GC sent in his mid semester grades. He was admitted to Cornell ED.
When my S applied ED, the school where he applied requested his senior year mid-semester grades from his guidance counselor, since the decision was made before his first semester ended.
D19’s ED decision was made on mid-semester grades (her semester finals were only written in January), but she was required to send in the mid year report when it was available (and obviously the final transcript).
As mentioned above, only one of those can be applied to in the early round. Georgetown has REA and the others look like ED only.
Yes, I’m going to weigh which one would be more beneficial and apply regular later on.
