I’m a little confused about how Yale’s score choice works. I scored a 36 on my ACT so I do not intend on sending in my 1550 SAT. However, I have two subject tests that I would like to send in. Would it be okay for me to send in the ACT score + 2 subject tests but not my 1550?
I don’t think that’s possible. Because you have to submit all the scores. 1550 is a great score. You should send it along with your SAT subject scores.
Yes, submitting your ACT score of 36 and two SAT Subject Test scores is OK, as Yale has score choice for SAT Subject Test scores. You just have to make sure on the College Board’s website that your SAT score is not sent to Yale. See: https://admissions.yale.edu/faq/standardized-testing
Your sending the two subject tests won’t add anything to your already great 36, you know. Congrats btw
@gibby, I’m interpreting Yale’s instruction differently than you are. I see a little ambiguity, but to me, “If you want us to have any scores from both the SAT and ACT, you must report all scores from both exams” requires that the full SAT set be sent in order for subject tests to be considered. But I also expect the 1550 will be ignored in favor of the 36.
OP, @gibby and @T26E4 are correct. You can send your ACT and your subject test scores to Yale. They accept score choice for subject tests so you can pick your top scores. You don’t need to send your 1550 SAT score.
You didn’t mention if you took more ACT in addition to your 36 score. You need to send in all of your ACT scores if you took more than one.
That Yale instruction was about as helpful as a New York City No Parking sign.
Thanks for the replies everyone!
