I just finished up my freshman year of college and did not so well I have one more class that is giving me a grade but as of now I have a 2.4. I'm taking a class in the summer but I'm thinking of dropping it and starting as a freshman as CSULA. In high school I was always a straight A student but I am very depressed where I live and it's affecting my grades. Could I start over as a freshman at CSULA? Or will they force me to continue with what I already have?

You cannot start over as a freshman. You must send all of your transcripts and if it is discovered that you did not your acceptance to CSULA would likely be revoked. You can attempt to transfer in to CSULA.

it’s not “if”, its “when”. There is a national database that schools query to check for kids that “forget” to mention schools they have attended, financial aid they have already received, etc. Since every college app requires you to list ALL previous colleges attended and you signed under penalty of perjury, there are consequences.

You can’t “start over”. Those grades will always be on your transcript. However, you can retake those classes and get a better grade in the ones you failed. If you’re at a community college, some as far as I am aware do something called “academic renewal”. Look into that and go forward with high grades. If you cannot make decent grades at a community college or wherever you are, then maybe college is not for you at this point in your life. You should get your depression treated. CSULA as far as I am aware has extremely low standards, so I think it would still be possible for you to get in.

You can start over mentally. You can do well in your summer class. You can apply for a transfer. You can change your major. A lot of people have rocky freshman years, you just have to get on top of it.
