<p>I don't know how these programs work because the pictures on the website show the majority of the students being URMs but I sometimes see white and asian people in them. Does this mean I can still apply to the program and be accepted?</p>
<p>Yeah, unless it is *only<a href=“like%20MITES”>/i</a> for URMs, you can. I don’t see why you would as you would feel like a complete minority (in a very different regard than being a minority in school or in the city) because you are an exception to the general. Many times you will have to go to seminars or classes which teach things which may be irrelevant to you.</p>

<p>Depends which “asians” we talk about. I have heard of many URM programs which consider those of Filipino, Vietnamese, etc. heritage considered URMs (maybe not in the traditional sense). Generally, Asian refers to those east Asian heritage, but in a URM sense refers to Japanese, Korean, Indian, and Chinese (as those denote a lot of the America upper middle and upper class). </p>
