Can I still get accepted into Stony Brook?

I have finished my freshman year of college at a community college in Long Island. My first semester I had a 2.7 GPA due to a D+ from my horrible English professor who has given plenty of bad grades to many students even if they do great work, I was one of those cases. This semester I did extremely well and I had 3.3 GPA until I received my business law grade and I got a D+ which I felt was unfair so I decided to contact her to try and change the grade to a C at least. We are going to meet soon. It would maybe bring the GPA to a 2.9 or 3.0. I also noticed that Stony brook only accepts credits that are C and above and I’m nervous that I won’t get into my dream school. I’m also very involved at my community college and I am a student leader so maybe I might look like a better applicant.

Stony brook has a joint admissions program with community colleges on Long Island. You need to graduate with at least a 2.8, so you can definitely raise it next year and attend Stony brook as a junior. You might not be able to choose some majors though like engineering or computer science.

I’m not in a joint admissions program at all. So will that matter? I’m thinking of being a Economics major. I want to be a Professor or Counselor.
