Hey guys, I'm really concerned about my chances at a top ivy league college. I have a 4.5 unweighted GPA and a 2400 on my SAT (I took it in May). Unfortunately, I only got an 11 on the essay. Will colleges see this and will it impact my chances at ivy league schools? I'm only asking because I have a friend who only got into Princeton this year and he had 2390 SATs. I also got 800 on SAT II Math Level II and SAT II Chemistry. I took US History this month but I thought it was really hard,I'm sure I messed up at least one question. I'm also president of model un, debate team, and the school newspaper. I don't know if this is important, but I am also half Cherokee and half black. Cherokee is my first language.

no. you'll never have even a single crum of chance because your essay is not a 12. i mean, everybody who attends hyp gets a full 12. you'll forever rot away in your crap community college.

How can your GPA be a 4.5 unweighted? UW GPA is traditionally out of 4.0...are your grades all As? Are you taking all honors and AP classes? Is this thread for real?

yo man ur way outta ur league here. HYP would be wasted admissions fee bud.

my predicitons:
Local Community College: reach
working at CVS: match
pumping gas: saftey

Haha, cute.

you should get ready for community college.

I love how excel deleted the second portion of his/her post.

"I took US History this month but I thought it was really hard,I'm sure I messed up at least one question."

Wow....

You guys do realize that this thread is a joke, right?

lol

this guy is oblivious.

No, it's scary because I know people like this.

How can you call this a joke? I'm actually really concerned about my predicamen. I'm looking for some honest replies, I'de really appreciate it.

Learn how to spell. Its "predicament". You might have a chance at winning the 2nd grade spelling bee lol.

hahahahaha

Are you crazy? There's no way in hell you'll get in unless you have a 2500, 8.0 uw, with a 13 on the essay. Pumping gas, making tacos, and peeling potatoes are all reaches for you. Maybe admissions will slip up and you'll get into a community college.

NO it won't hurt your chances. Look at the admitted stats of people at HYP. Do they all have perfect SATs? No? Hmm. Then they all must not have SAT essay scores of 12! Simple deduction that a person with a 2400 should be able to perform. Look at the averages. Are they even close to 2400? I think not. Come on, think here, man. You have all A's and a perfect SAT, you should be able to figure this out. Your chances aren't hurt in the least.

And if this is a joke, screw what I just said.

Are you for real, though? You also posted this:

I'm a junior...I got a 2110 on the november SAT. I'm aiming not necessarily for ivy league but just below that like wesleyan, pomona, etc. Should I retake the SAT to get a better score? My GPA is currently like 4.1 unweighted and I'm in BC Calc, AP Chem and APUSH this year.

Also, what are other schools that are along the lines of wesleyan etc?

I'm asian so race ain't gonna help me either

Reasons I could be wrong:

Raised your SAT score in May.
Raised your GPA somehow from 4.1 to 4.5
Suddenly want to shoot for the ivy league.

How did you get a 2400 if you got an 11 on the essay? The essay is like 25% of the W section. This is insane.

If you have an 80 MC your essay can be below 12 for an 800.

4.5 UW The OP Said, Don't be Stupid It's Clearly a Joke =p
