I am currently a sophomore at a private high school and am very nervous about how my grades turned out. Right now with most my finals in my GPA has dropped from 4.00 to 3.86 due to now having a 88 in spanish which I had studied for but I will be the first to admit its not my forte. I also have an 87 in my AP world history class which probably won't change. The only thing that could change is my geometry grade which could change and cause my GPA to go to 4.00 but it may not occur. Please keep in mind all my classes are accelerated and then I have a ap history and honors chem class(I have an A in this). I really want to go Vanderbilt, Colgate, or Johns Hopkins. My school is ranked 51 in the nation so it's proven to be hard and I have tons of safety net schools send me stuff all the time. I also am a varsity cross country runner and also do recreational track and club tennis in the spring. Freshman year my gpa was 3.76. I also have a extreme learning disability which causes me to have to work hard just to get the grades I would like plus I also due tons of service and tutor people for AP world since before this semester I have gotten an A every semester for the last two years with the same teacher. Next year also my gpa will be higher cause I'm taking 2 AP courses(us history and bio) as well as 3 honors courses (lit, algebra 2, and physics).

Just have super extracurriculars to balance out.

Unless you have something that these schools really want, yes, you will be behind those kids who did manage to do better than you did sophomore year with all other things equal. Depends on if there are enough of them applying to those schools to put you out of contention. What did you expect?
