Or am I stuck in the school for the whole year? I was planning on finally leaving my college this year. Is that still possible?

You can leave any time you want to lol. You just wont get the aid for the second half if it is a school grant. But I believe most scholarships give the money by semester so if you change schools its possible to keep the money. you’re not tied to anything though.

So, can I apply for new aid again for the new school, after the first semester? Or will I have to actually gulp pay?

many universities have scholarships for transfers. granted its not as supportive as for incoming freshman, but it still might be good if you’re a highly qualified transfer

I’m not sure the above is totally accurate. There are schools that give NO institutional need based aid to transfer students. There are schools that give limited need based aid to transfer students. There are schools that give no aid to transfer students who are enrolling for the spring semester. And there are schools that give aid to transfer student the same as for anyone else (this is the least prevalent option).

So…you need to check the policy of the schools to which you are applying. Your mileage may vary.

Ah ok, I understand, thanks.

It’s much, much harder to get financial aid as a transfer.

Schools also provide aid at the beginning of each semester. If you transfer right after one semester, you aren’t able to take the second semester money with you.
