Can I still transfer toward state colleges?

I have a currenty gpa of 2.56 majority of the transferable classes are B and a few C a few A
with 1 F which I repeated with a A. I want to transfer to a state college this coming up spring or fall of 2013 because I miss the deadline to apply last fall. I had finish almost all the required GE except the English part in which I had a choice between 1B, 1C, and Philosophy 2 or 4. since I was taking 1A at the moment my choice is only limited to philosophy 2 and 4 which I took philosophy 4 because I enroll and withdraw thinking I can try it again, but it was too tough for me to handle. I tried to drop it today after I paid the bill for my classes, but it was too late so I predict in the class I am most likely end up with a F or if I am lucky a D. I was wondering how badly will this affect my transfer? I dont want to be stuck at community college any longer because I just to study my major asap.

can someone give me some insight what to do?
I plan to take English 1B this coming summer or fall just to finish that section of the GE and I would have completed everything, can I still have a chance at going to state? or am I doom stuck waiting in CC since state college only accept handful of students?

Which state are you in?

You can atleast apply when you have 30 credits and 60 to transfer in california…maybe makeup the class in the summer to get it out of the way.

Hi
I live in the state of California currently going to community college. Seeing how majority of my grades are either B or C I think maybe I should retake that F with a different instructor.
however I just want to ask do you think state college will accept me? since college these days either accept you cause you got the money or your grades are really high, while denying those who are below average.

sorry for the late reply, school + work is a lot to burden atm.

Is that F class offered over the summer? If so, I’d recommend grabbing a seat in that class, assuming it’s not full, and go for the A. Don’t take anything else.

When the Fall 2013 application window opens up, don’t waste any time in applying. Also check out the TAG/TAA plan for the CSUs you are interested in. More information on that can be found here: [California Community College Priority Transfer Agreements | Student Transfer | CSU](http://www.calstate.edu/transfer/apply/priority-agreements.shtml)

course not available through summer. so I shouldnt apply?

CSU transfer from a CCC is based entirely on two things: the location of your CCC that you earned the majority of your credits and your GPA. The CSUs don’t care about your finances at all when considering your application for admission. (And as for prioritizing students with high grades over average grades, I guess I’d ask why a state college should skip over high gpa students to let in a low gpa student instead??)

With a 2.5 gpa, you should be able to get into your local CSU as long as your major is not impacted. Basically the local CSU will take local CCC transfer students, by major, in descending order of GPA until filled. If it does not fill with local CCC transfers, then it will look at CCC transfers from around the state and take students by gpa rank until full. Lastly, they will take OOS transfers.

However, I need to point out that several CSUs do not give local CCC transfers this priority, such as Cal Poly, so double check your local CSU before counting on this advantage.

It is possible to get into less popular majors or less popular CSU campuses with a 2.5 gpa, so be sure to apply to one or two “safety” CSUs.

What is your major? What CCC do you go to (or what is the local CSU that considers your CCC to be in its service area?).

Btw - most CSUs will not be taking spring transfers because of budget woes, or at least that is what I last heard.
