Can I submit my commonapp without the counselor's report?

The deadline for one of my schools is 1/1, but I won't be able to get my counselor's rec/report until after that deadline.

Can I still submit my commonapp without the counselor's report, and then mail in the counselor's report a few days later?

Will that work?

Yes, you can. I submitted my commonapp in October. My counselor still hasn't sent her portion in. I don't know what to say to her anymore.

Yes you can. When sons were applying (both in college now), they submitted the online common app. After submitting the online common app., they informed their HS GC and the guidance dept. then prepared their packets and mailed those off a couple of weeks later via the post office. The packet included the HS Transcript, teacher rec's, GC rec, a copy of their high school resume (which each kid had to create on their own and give copies to the guidance office) and high school profile.

Ok, good news.

...But now I have another question.

Lafayette is my only school that has a 1/1 deadline --- my other eight have 1/15 or later.

Can I submit one essay to Lafayette through the commonapp website, and then submit a different (and better) essay to my other colleges? Or can you only use one essay for the commonapp; that is, once you submit your essay for one school, you have to use that essay for all of your schools?

And, wait.

Since the deadline for Lafayette is 1/1, do the counselor recs/reports have to postmarked by the 1/1, or can the postmarked on, for example, 1/10?

I'm pretty sure they can be postmarked after 1/1. The school can't really hold you accountable if your guidance counselor misses the deadline. If anything is missing by a certain date they'll notify you anyway.

Also, you can change your essay. You can 'replicate' the Common App so that there's another version and then transfer schools to that new version. Info and essays can be changed with each new version, up to 10.

"then prepared their packets and mailed those off a couple of weeks later via the post office."

did they mail them off two weeks after the deadline for their application?

But you guys are pretty sure they can be postmarked after the deadline?
