Can I survive with a Chromebook?

Hey, I’m an incoming freshman at tOSU and I am trying to figure out whether or not I’ll need to get a new laptop for college. My Chromebook has served me pretty well throughout high school; the only issues were when I needed to things with Microsoft, but I’ve now figured out how to use Microsoft online with my Chromebook using my Buckeye mail account. I’m going to be majoring in Teacher Education. Anyway, will my trusty Chromebook be enough for me in college, or should I get something more comprehensive? If so, does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you!

If you have been able to use the Chromebook throughout high school and have gotten around needing offline programs, you should be fine with your Chromebook. Especially as an education major…it would be different if you were an engineer or programmer or something like that. Also, any classes I have come across that required software have made that software available through the library’s computers.

Echoing what mike08b said, all colleges have to provide appropriate computer labs for whatever they require. Since it is technically possible to get through all four years without any computer, a chrome book should be fine; however, you may find yourself in the computer lab a little more often than some of your peers.
