Hello all! First of all I'd just like to say how wonderful and helpful this site is.

Now I have been wondering if it is possible for myself to attend a community college for two years, take a 4 year break (military service), then finish up the last two years at a different 4 year university to get my degree.

I am a highly motivated person so I probably will not have to worry about summoning the willpower to finish college.

sure! military offers tons of help wen u come back home in terms of attending and paying for college! make sure ur able to leave in 4 years tho

I know a Marine who is doing just this. By enlisting with an A.A. she was Pvt. 1st class as soon as she finished boot camp which gave her a head start on moving up through the ranks.

There are a number of universities that will award college credit for military training, as well as several universities that offer live courses on base. UMUC is one that you might look into even before you enlist.
