Can I take Math W53 to remove an okay grade in Math 53?

Hi y'all!

I didn't do too well this semester (okay I did really poorly), and I received a lower grade in many classes than I thought I could have gotten.

Now, Ninja Courses says that "A deficient grade in 53 may be removed by completing Mathematics W53." I received a B-, but I know Cal only considers some grades "deficient". Could I take Math W53 to replace my Math 53 score? And if so, would both be on my transcript?

Thanks!

I think the interpretation of the phrase is ‘If you got a deficient grade in Math 53 (D+, D, D-, F, NP), then you’re supposed to take Math 53, but W53 is o.k. too.’

You have to talk to your adviser if B- is replaceable or not.

Even if you are allowed to re-take, both grades will show on the transcript although only the better grade will be counted towards the GPA.

My thoughts: don’t retake it. Either you won’t be allowed to retake it, or it’s just not worth it two have both grades show on the transcript anyway.

Don’t bother to retake a B-.
