Hi! For those who follow my posts, you may know that I’m taking a gap year after highschool. I was wondering if it’s possible to take (any) AP test after graduating highschool. Or…must I be enrolled in some type of official educational system? I’d truly appreciate a response. Thanks.

Wow, you’re the only person I’ve seen (besides me) that’s actually thinking of doing this. I’ll be taking a gap year too. What exams are you going to take?

Anyway to answer your question, the short answer is probably not, but I’m not sure. My situation is somewhat different from yours. There are some homeschooled kids that take AP courses without being registered in High School, they just do the work themselves. You’d probably have to apply as a homeschooler, but that means contacting Collegeboard no later than March 1. Check the [AP Bulletin, page 9](<a href=“http://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/Bulletin_for_AP_Students_and_Parents_2010-2011.pdf"]AP”>http://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/Bulletin_for_AP_Students_and_Parents_2010-2011.pdf) for more info.
