Recently, I was accepted into Penn as a Biochem major in CAS and I am thinking about minoring in Econ. I’ve always been science-minded with an interest in business, especially finance. Is this path the right one for me? I know transferring to Wharton is extremely hard with an admissions rate of 2% meaning it is most likely out of the question. What do you guys think?
First, minoring in Econ is done in the College, and not in Wharton (if that’s what you were assuming):

Second, as a student in the College, you can take Wharton courses without any special permission.
Third, I’m not sure that 2% acceptance rate for internally transferring into Wharton is accurate (although I’ve seen it reported here on CC at least once). I don’t think anyone knows the exact acceptance rate (since it varies from semester to semester depending on the number of available spaces and the number of people applying), but I really doubt that it’s as low as 2%. It wasn’t that long ago (within the past 5 or so years), that about a 3.8 average in the College, alone, was pretty much all that was required for transfer into Wharton. Granted that the internal transfer admissions process was changed a few years ago to a more holistic one, but I’d really be surprised if the internal transfer acceptance rate were as low as 2%.
