“Georgia Tech’s motto is Progress & Service. In 25 words or less, what is your personal motto?”
I would like to use a quote from Winston Churchill as my motto; however, I do not know if this supplement implies originality or not. Any feedback would be helpful, thanks in advance.
P.S. The quote I would like to use is “Never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about.”
It doesn’t specify whether it needs to be original, which I’m guessing means it can go either way as long as it has a personal significance. However, I’d be careful because a motto is different from a quote, especially a medium-long one like that. Your supplement may come off as more unique if you use your own words to convey the same message Winston Churchill did.
Hope that helped!
**EDIT: Just checked GATech’s website and it says that admissions look for essays that “demonstrate authenticity.” In that case, definitely do NOT quote Winston Churchill word by word. Sorry, my bad. Here’s the link: http://admission.gatech.edu/freshman/personal-essays
