Can i Use two similar essays to apply two cornell schools?

Can i Use two similar essays to apply two cornell schools?

well, the thing is i’m pretty sure that both colleges can see the essay that you wrote for the other college. thus, i guess your question would be “would they get mad if i used the same essay?”

That, I’m not sure of.

My guess is that they’ll read the primary one and skim the second one. If the second one sounds sounds interesting, then they might read it or something.

So if you’re going to use a similar essay, don’t make it too obvious that you’re either a) reusing stuff or b) contradicting yourself

but I thought the topics were very much the same…

like
College of Agriculture and Life Sciences:
How have your interests and related experiences influenced your selection of major?

College of Arts and Sciences:
Describe your intellectual interests, their evolution, and what makes them exciting to you. Tell us how you will utilize the academic programs in the College of Arts and Sciences to further explore your interests, intended major, or field of study.

let’s say, if I am going to major in Biological Science, which is a major that both schools possess. it is very understandable that I wrote two similar essay isn’t it?

Bump~Bump~Bump~

i200258396… that’s what i was planning on doing also… applying bio in both cals and cas. question… you applied/applying primary/ alternate right? which one did you put first??

i originally wrote my cals essay first and i’m using it structurally to write my cas one

I might write two different essays since engineering and arts and scirence are a little different. I guess i will put engineering as my first choice

if you write another essay for the alternate, it’s pretty much like a free opportunity to tell them more about yourself.

From what I heard, they read both essays, so again, why not take advantage of that and write an essay saying other stuff?

okay~Okay~

Just know that both colleges will likely be able to see both. Don’t act contradictory at all.

CornellPerson is wrong. The two colleges you apply two do not read both essays, only the essay intended for their school. I was at an engineering info session last week and they said this.

^Yes!! Totally using the same essay again, then.

Well, at least know that they will know what college you applied to as a first and second choice, and it will be an issue if you apply to say engineering and CALS and both your essays talk about completely opposite passions in your life (if engineering was your first choice, CALS will know something is up). I’ve heard that it is not a good idea to apply to two colleges unless you have a very good reason to do so…they barely ever accept anyone at the second choice.

when i applied, i used the same essay twice, and i was one of those early-notifications from CALS (aem) during RD.

^how early did you get notified? (early notifications = likely letters, in terms of concept right?)

i got a letter around late feb/early march (i forgot the exact date, it was two years ago!) that was like, “oh hey, you’re in! congrats”

keep in mind that there are certain colleges in cornell that do “rolling admissions” which isn’t really rolling - they just notify some people earlier if they wanna do that.

A bit of a random question -
How does biological science in CALS compare to biology in CAS?

any more feeds on my question?
