can i use UPenn in my essay?

for the supplement essay, obviously i will be saying the names alot, would it be fine if i use UPenn instead of University of Pennsylvania?

I know the latter is more formal, but would it seem too redundant if i use it too many times in the essay?

no, it’s not fine

the proper shorthand name is penn, not upenn

Don’t call it UPenn at all. That shows you don’t really know much about the University. You should call it Penn, which is what the school calls itself.

When you are talking with others who aren’t familiar with calling it “Penn” like your friends and family and stuff, do you refer to it as Univesity of Pennsylvania or Penn?

Whenever I say Penn they all think of Penn State…

I say Upenn when talking to outside people and Penn when I’m talking to inside people. So by using Penn, you imply “one of us.”
