I applied for CAS Economics major and am being referred to LSP. Will LSP still allow me to get an Economic degree with a minor in Finance?

I don’t think CAS students have an option to minor in finance do they?

LSP will be a two-year program where you complete 100% of your gen-ed requirements but can’t declare a major/minor. No one can minor in Finance period, Stern or not. It isn’t offered as a minor. http://www.stern.nyu.edu/UC/CurrentStudents/Academics/MajorsAndMinors/index.htm

Deferral to LSP will put you at a bit of a disadvantage for OCR since you won’t have the opportunity to pursue your econ (intended major) classes until sophomore spring or junior fall at the earliest, and if you’re looking to move into the financial services industry and intern junior year like every single other person does, you’re a notch back.

I thought that LSP would allow me to take some economics courses in the second year. I looked at the LSP program and saw that as a freshman I would have to take writing, cultural and social leaving room for one class in each semester of the first year. Then in the sophomore year the is only Cultural, social and a math or science. Is this correct?

That is correct, but unfortunately (at least so I believe) several of the CAS econ classes require a math prerequisite, meaning you’d have to clear the math requirement before you registered for any econ courses.
