I got a 1680 for my best shot. I am restudying like an absolute mad man and i was wondering, do you think that if i do practice tests everyday for the next month and a half till the january test, i could get near a 1900? or even a 2000? thanks! (anyone who actually is IN or WAS in this situation feel free to post your story :D )

as a sophomore, i got a 169 psat, jr year 180, sats were 1960 1st time (all these were without prep) then, prepped it up for the next one to boost my composite score to a 2050, so, i know its hard, but just relax, ull get in the groove, study it up(but not too crazy), and dont make dumb math mistakes like i did, and ulll be fine. in short, yea, u can hit 1900

I think it depends on how much prep work you did for that 1680. If you had no idea what you were doing for that test - didn't know that the SAT consists of 10 sections - well, I can only assume it would go up! But if you took practice tests every day for a month and a half prior to that exam, then it's questionable.

Go through the tests - see if your practice scores go up. If there's a positive trend it's definitely worth a shot. Go through SAT vocab lists and reinforce any geometry or other math area that may be a weakness, and learn the tricks to solving each type of problem. You should see good results!

===improving Reading Passages===

How do you improve your reading passage skills?

it's definitely possible.

the best way to improve reading passages is just to read. work on comprehension and speed, and get used to reading boring things.

thnk you....

It is possible to go up that much. My score went up 320 points from my original. I went from a 1940 to a 2260. But that was with a ton of studying.

I took it the first time with no prep ... 1790...

Then i prepped chaotically... as much as u anticipate to... and got a 1990.

And I even prepped more and took it again in december... waiting on those scores :-)

I took it the first time when I was fourteen/fifteen during sophomore year. I'm an English immigrant, so I was not familiar with U.S. exams and I did not know what to expect. Consequently, the SAT was quite a surprise. I only received about an 1120/1600 on my first attempt, but I took it again this October and received a 1350/1600. To improve my score I merely read more and prepped for the math portion of the exam. I would recommend that you do the same.

I'm sorry kev07wan, that you were only a few points short of a 2000. I know how frustrating that is.

freshman / sophmore psat - 169 both times
junior year - 198
first sat - 1940
2nd sat - 2080
3rd - 2180 (combined)
so I went up about 500 points. yes it is possible. I took one prep class (between sophmore and junior. It helped me in writing basically). And the rest I studied vocab / read.

junior PSAT-178
junior SAT-1860
senior SAT-2000
senior SAT-2100+

2140=>2300 after taking a class over the summer
I don't think the class helped much, just take lots of practice tests so you'll know what you're dealing with.
