Can my admission be withdrawn if I get one bad grade in Senior year?

Hello! I was recently admitted to UW’s Class of 2019, and I’ve never been proud of myself. The thing is, I failed AP Physics during my first semester of Senior year. UW doesn’t know it yet, and I’m unsure whether to tell them before I send my transcripts in June.

Would UW likely withdraw my admission because of an “F”? If they will, what if I show improvement during second semester? And plus, if I get a 4 or 5 on the AP exam for Physics, my teacher has a very, very generous policy that will bump that “F” up to at least a “B”.

During my first semester, except for that lone “F”, I had all “A’s” and one “B+”. I’m aware that an F will be a red flag, but I seriously hope it will not drastically impact my admission.

That’s a little sketchy but I don’t think they will withdraw your admission that would be too far

If your teacher has a generous policy, how did you get an F in the first place? That sounds sketchy. However, I think if you are forthcoming with the info and perhaps include a note as to what happened (presumable there was something) along with your final transcript, you will probably be fine.

Still…begs the question why an F when your teacher has a liberal grading policy? Hopefully you aren’t looking to be a physics or engineering major.

I’m also pretty worried about having my admission rescinded. At first it was one bad grade (D in AP calc), but now my grades as a whole are kind of a mess. Pretty sure my GPA isn’t what got me admitted since it was never my strong point, but I went from having a 3.5 average to getting a 2.9 average last semester, and this semester I have two Cs and a D.

It’s a slightly complex situation (the D this semester is in an elective class that I don’t even need to be taking, for example) and I know I can’t get a definitive answer here, but I’m wondering:

Does anyone here know someone who was really rescinded? How bad were their grades?

And what is the best course of action to take after having your admission revoked? They do it very last-minute, past the point when you can accept admission from a different university.

Also, how can I best prepare for this, other than trying to improve my grades? Should I contact UW?
