(p.s: i’m his friend who has known him since childhood as our dads were colleagues.)
SAT: 1540/1600
AP Computer Science : 5
AP Calculus : 5
Grade 11 percentage: 90
He created a blog on Latest Tech and Weird(in a positive sense) Tech.
Remarks : His mom died due to cancer when he was 6. After few years,(when he was 11) he was diagnosed with jaundice. He lost hopes because of these uncertainties in his life. He couldn’t study well after that point. But then when he was 13 his dad motivated him and he gave him a lecture. From then on he started working hard. His 9th grades weren’t that good. In 10th he got a 91%. He started his own blog(he was interested in CS and technology) when he was in 11th grade. Even though he doesn’t want to apply to Harvard, I wanted him to apply saying Harvard considers all the hardships a student went through and they evaluate him accordingly.
Too much privacy invasion.
here in college confidential privacy is not a big deal!
Actually, college confidential takes minors ’ privacy protection very seriously. However I don’t think your friend can be identified.
Is that friend lower income? Does his/her parents have a colllege degree?
Is s/he a junior, sophomore?
Are you citizens/permanent residents or international?
Why Harvard vs., say, Pomona or Amherst?
Most top colleges have holistic admissions. Overcoming obstacles counts, but is not on its own sufficient. They don’t admit anyone out of pity, but because they’re exceptional and brilliant.
@pat07ek - Really new to cc? Privacy is the decision of the poster. Your “friend” isnt here to decide… or are they…
@MYOS1634 i don’t know about his dad’s income( i assume it to be less than 60k)
His dad has a college degree.(graduate level)
he is a junior
he is an international student
