Can my professor fill in the college official's form on the commonapp. My university isn't too fond of transfers and is technically refusing to complete this form (other than the letter of good standing). Can a professor of mine (she's not submitting a professor's rec.) do it?

Call the school first and ask.

My guess is no since professors do not have access to your school records and good standing situation.

However its only a guess, schools really go so far as to not sign your forms? I am facing extreme awkwardness when I ask my teachers for a midterm report grade when I tell them I am transferring,so I understand what your going through a little bit. I am really sorry. It really isn’t fair, we have the right to do what we want with our private dollars and shouldn’t feel bad for leaving.

True that. Only, I really don’t feel bad for wanting to leave; not in the least, acutally.

oh same with me. sorry I meant more like, we shouldn’t be treated like this for wanting to leave

Yeah, I can relate entirely! Good luck to you!

This is the second thread about such a problem with the College Report. This shouldn’t be happening, have you brought your parents in to give a call? I definitely would go to bat for my kid if their school was giving them the run around like this. It’s their job to fill out that form, it doesn’t matter what they think about transfers.

The wording on the College Report is pretty specific, so I wouldn’t recommend having a teacher fill it out as you run the risk of having an incomplete/inappropriate application. Definitely call the schools that you’re transferring to and explain your problem and ask for advice on how to proceed.

You need to confront the school officials and demand (nicely) them to fill out the form. Bringing in your parents would help as well. It should not be a problem. You should tell them to omit or fill in no basis on all the evaluation parts.

A professor cannot do it unless they have access to your academic and disciplinary records. Most of them will not, unless your professor happens to be your advisor.

Damn, this is the second thread about college officials refusing to fill out the form.

Heh, when I checked with the registrar to see if they sent my transcripts, they looked at me like I was complete scum. Lucky for me the school I’m applying to doesn’t need the college officials report…

Thankfully, my advisor doesn’t know me, but has done plenty of these transfer things before. So everything went fairly smoothly, (I hope). It just took a while for the forms to get to all the right people (dean of discipline needed to fill out a part).

My school is so big, sending transcripts only requires a credit card and a click of a few buttons. lol. No problem there.

Sorry to hijack this post.

Obtaining school forms is the most difficult part of the transfer process. Do it early, because a lot of problems CAN occur.
