Can SAT II's be sent in after you submit your application?

I've just recently become interested in NYU and have just discovered that two SAT II test are required. I've only taken the SAT I and was wondering if you are allowed to send in SAT II test scores after the application deadline? Also, since they are not required for admission to Tisch, would I be able to apply for Tisch and then switch to a major outside of Tisch? I know there's probably no chance of this but it's worth asking.

You are "allowed" to send SAT II's after the deadline, but I've heard that the admissions do not recommend doing this because there is a decent chance that your application would have already been reviewed by late January / early February.

Also, Tisch isn't exactly easier to get into. In fact it is one of the harder schools to get into (with the exception of Stern). In order to not have to send the SAT II's, you have to send in an art portfolio or schedule an audition, which from what I've heard, you must be amazingly good at in order to get in.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I have a special case which pretty much disabled me from taking the SAT II's so I am hoping they will understand. Would you recommend e-mailing or calling the Office of Admissions and explaining my case before applying? I don't want to spend 65$ for the application fee then have my application marked as incomplete for not taking the SAT II's yet.

I would for sure try to speak with someone at the admissions office and try to explain your situation. I'm pretty sure that they just opened after winter break, so I would call as soon as possible.

I had this problem when I applied Early Decision. It also depends on when you're taking the test. What the admissions office told me to do was to put a note in the additional information section (CommonApp) saying that you wanted the Admissions office to review your application only after they've received your scores. The may be space on the NYU app (if your using it) that you can add this information. Hope this helps

Thank you rcny019. I have not registered for any of the SAT II tests yet, I'm just afraid that by the time I do take the test, get my results and send my scores; it will all be too late and there will be no more space available

You have to apply by JANUARY 4 in order to take the Jan 26 test. This will be your last chance to take the test until March 1 (too late for you to even consider it). College Board submits your scores to the school before you get them (maybe weeks before). Its on a rolling basis so once the test gets scored it goes to the school. The regular decision deadline fpr NYU is January 15...11 days before you take the test. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky few that get their score reports in the week after you take your test. Your best bet would be to contact the Admissions office at NYU and see what they say just to make sure. Hope everything works out for you.

I just wrote the Office of Admissions regarding my situation, so we'll see what they have to say. I have already registered for the January 26th reasoning test...is it possible to take both the reasoning test AND a subject test on the same day? Thank you once again for all of your help...I'm kind of freaking out at the moment haha

Haha no problem. No College Board is screwy that way and they will only let you take either the reasoning or the subject but not both. If you took the reasoning already then your best bet would be to call Customer Service and beg them to change your Jan 26 test to subject tests ("exaggerate" if you have to). Tell them you clicked the wrong button or something. NYU makes it a big deal that you submit SAT scores:

“It is important to keep in mind that Subject Test results are one of a number of factors which are considered within an applicant’s academic evaluation. Our Committee will be placing our greatest emphasis on in-classroom ability and will look to standardized testing to be comparable to academic success in the classroom. Admissions decisions are not based solely on individual components of the application, such as a Subject Test exam score.” – Admissions Office

See what happens with college board (even if you have to pay an additional fee).

I wish I could do that...But it's vital that I re-take the reasoning test just to get into the other colleges I've applied to. Sigh. Oh well. Maybe I'll just transfer there after a year or two...I don't really think I'm qualified aside from my GPA and diversification anyway.
