Can someone convince me to go to UMass Amherst???

Hey I am a transfer student from a college in New York, and I love where I go, however for financial reasons, I have an option to transfer. Can someone convince me to go to UMass Amherst!?

Thank you so much for you guidance! :)

No…you said you love your school so why would you want to transfer aside for financial reasons? We shouldn’t have to convince you to go to UMass Amherst; you should visit the school and see if you would even be interested in transferring there. Would UMass Amherst be cheaper than your current school?

Umass amherst is one of the most expensive public state universities i wouldn’t recommend it honestly. If you want to go there because of the parties then you really dont have a good reason

Thank you both for your input. I have visited the school and I do like it. In addition, UMass Amherst is half the price of my current school. I am not a partier, I actually don’t like college partying at all.

@collegecnfused I hope you enjoy your time at UMass Amherst! I know sadly all too well how sucky it can be to transfer from a college you don’t really want to let go. I’m not a partier as well, and I can tell you that I found plenty of similar people during my time at UMass and it didn’t stop me from being friends with anyone anyway. One of the cool things about UMass is that you can really find people all over the spectrum in terms of everything. In terms of adjusting socially, I personally found that it was difficult to make good friends in classes, but easy with people I lived with. And yes, obviously become involved, but bear in mind that some clubs make people much more close-knit than others. For example, club/intermural sports, the theater guild, marching band, etc. all seem to end up loving each other a lot. Good luck!

Yes. You’ll make more friends in your dorm and in clubs. If you like UMass, then you should go. But asking to be convinced is wrong. You will know if you feel like it’s a good fit or not-no one can tell you that.
