Can someone explain to me about the whole "sending in your SAT scores" thing?

So, hypothetically, I'm a junior planning on taking the SAT/ACT in the spring, and again next fall. But next fall is when college applications are due. So, do I send my scores in to all the colleges I plan on applying to? Will they use that score when determining my acceptance, and that score only? Or what? I don't wanna send them bad SAT scores, and I especially don't wanna send them scores that are worse than what my scores would be the first time I took it in the spring. If my spring scores are higher, can I send those? I don't get it. lol. And do the same things apply to my SAT subject scores?

Applications become available in late summer/fall. Usually submission begins in the fall for rolling admissions, EA/ED deadlines are generally in early Nov, and RD deadlines are often Jan 1.

As with most admissions factors, there is no universal answer for how testing works, schools differ in:

The tests they require.

Their Score Choice policy.

You need to go to the Admissions websites for the colleges you’re interested in and read their testing policies. This will give you a better idea of the range in testing requirements/recommendations and test reporting.

There are some schools that you have to send all scores otherwise you would be lying in your application. Send your scores unseen to those schools. Penn is one of them.
Use score choice for schools that allow them.
