I am thinking about Northwestern and UChicago, I don’t think I have a chance at most Ivies since my high school GPA is so low(it’s around a 3.5 if you go by the 4.0 scale). I don’t think any transfer students get into Ivies with a high school GPA of 3.5.
Why do you want to transfer?
What is your major?
What are your finances like? Can you afford to be full pay at $75,000 per year without taking on any debt?
It is not unusual for top students from a “top 100” level school (such as a SUNY) to go to graduate school at “top 10” schools.
Your classes will get tougher as you move to upper level courses at your current school. Good academic jobs for most subjects are scarce. The result is that the faculty is very strong at a very wide range of schools, including pretty much anything in the top 200 in the US.
Also, one single semester of all A’s is a good start, but it does not overcome four full years of high school.
I can pay 75,000 a year without debt, I’m an Econ/Math major and my current school doesn’t have a comprehensive curriculum or engaging extracurriculars for what I’m interested in.
How many units have taken? Many school will not look at your high school GPA after a certain amount of units (usually 30ish).
I’m a freshman right now so they’re definitely looking at my high school gpa
