Can someone PLEASE correct this?

Ok, I put on my chances. net my scores and stuff and it came up that I have 96.4% of getting into this school. There is no possible way that that could be correct in any way possible you could think of. Can someone give me the REAL synopsis of my chance of getting in?

(go on my chances. net to see my profile, type Fortester under search engine)

No one but the admissions committee can tell you for sure.

Yeah I know that but I’m just asking for a rough round-a-bout estimate, not what my chances.net told me xD LOL

You can not gauge your chances with a percentage. Not unless you look at basically just those who are applying from your district and state. There are way too many variables. A 3.9gpa from one state can not get an appointment, while a 3.6gpa from another state can. Even if you make it to the general pool of applicants, it’s your entire application based on all the other applicants. And without knowing all the applicants that you are competing with, there’s no way to accurately say what your chances are. However, if you are a 4.0gpa, 30+ACT, 2100+SAT, ranked #1 in your class, numerous varsity letter sports, All AP/IB classes, tons of volunteer and extra curricular time; then I would say your odds are great. Other than that, the only odds you can count on are: If you don’t apply, then the odds are 0%". If you do apply; your odds are better than 0%.

I just checked out that site, and it’s flawed in a pretty major way. It’s relying on numbers only, whereas the Academy will be much more interested in you as a person. That being said, work on getting your SAT scores up.

If you want an uninvolved “evaluation” of your package, drop me a line at: flieger83@cox.net

I can’t tell you “Oh, you have a XX% chance…” but I can comment on what I see as “good, fair, poor, excellent” based upon the candidates I’ve worked with.

Otherwise, the comments you see here are accurate.

You should take advantage of Flier83 above. He evaluates for USAFA all the time. Don’t know what the other link is above that but you could also try [Service Academy Admissions - Welcome](http://toughestschoolsintheworld.com/) for some info but not an evaluation of your chances. The most important part is that you complete the application. Far too many applicants talk themselves out of the process. The good news is that if you can be talked out of it, you probably didn’t want it very much. Still, there are those who get bad information from good and well intentioned people and are qualified but take themselves out of the process. You are competing against a standard and against the others who apply. Hard to know how you’re doing against the first standard since police record, interview prep and your desire are impossible to score long distance. Unless you are sitting on the evaluation board, impossible to know the second standard (you against the others). Do your best, have a back-up plan, and best of luck!

I agree contact flieger.

For the most part the SAs are rare because of the acceptance process. You could have 99% chance on their site due to your academic stats, but it does not take into effect your ALO rec or your CFA. Also, there are people that come from a less competitive state that might look like they have a 90% match and get in while the 99% from a competitive state gets the thin letter.

He contacted me and I’ve responded.
