CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GRADE MY ESSAY FOR SAT!??

Hi, I am 13 years old and in 7th grade. This is my first time making an essay for the SAT, can someone please give me some feedback?! Actually, i made a much better essay, but then i closed it without saving (by mistake). This essay might not be as great. But OK. I know it is short, and not very well done. Please give me a grade!! Thanks a lot! I appreciate it. I really do!

ROMPT: Think carefully about the issue presented in the following excerpt and the assignment below.

No one knows how the future will turn out. Faced with this uncertainty, some people choose to live as though the only thing that matters is now. Instead of planning for the future, they devote their energy to enjoying the present. How misguided! They should spend their time today preparing for the future. Knowledge, skills, and resources they work to acquire now will serve them long after the pleasures of today are forgotten.

Assignment: Is preparing for the future more important than enjoying the present? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

ESSAY: Should there have been a world filled with people thinking about the present, there would be no future! If we all enjoy our present, living the dreams now, we would probably not be living in the future! There is not a way a being can survive by not thinking of the fate of not only one, but billions.

As Mahatma Mondras Gandhi said, "The future depends on what you do today.” In this phrase, he states that we ought to think about the future. But not only that. One has to execute it today.

If people live with uncertainty about the future, and think to enjoy things from the past, it is patent that the future would be no better. If we think ahead, think about what is to be coming, we can make it better for the later generations, to live in luxury.

If Steve Wozniak never built the computer, and Steve Job's enhancing it, we would not have these flourishing devices we use every day. If they did not think about the future, about what it would bring to the consumer, we would not have such great devices.

Being afraid, helps us immensely. If we were not afraid, we would not be thinking about the future. It is our fear of the future which keeps us awake through the sleepless nights.

If some choose to live as if the only thing that matters is the present, then would have Steve Jobs created Apple. Would Charles Babbage have created the computer. None would happen if we simply did not think about what comes ahead of us.

Okay kid you are in 7th grade… while I agree that preparing early is great and I congratulate you for thinking about your future so early, you should be focusing on other things than the sat right now. Don’t forget that while the SAT is very important, it is not enough by itself. Please do not give up on social life, academics, extracurriculars, sports and all that stuff for the SAT. That being said, here are my comments.

A successful SAT essay is convincing. To do so, you need to show, not tell. Understanding the difference between those two verbs is of vital importance. Here is an example.

I am good at sports.

I still the remember the moment clearly. I’m running and running. No one can catch up with me. A smile appears on my face as I cross the touchdown line. We made it to the finals.

Notice how the first one is not very convincing. That’s because it is simply telling something. The second one is much more convincing, that’s because it’s showing that you are good at sports. Notice how the second one is much longer yet the worlds are all needed. (Don’t mistake what i’m about to say for "you should pad your essay as much as possible). Used effectively more words will convey more meaning and will be more convincing. This is why I recommend using 2 examples or 3 if you really feel like it. Once you have understood this, your essays will become much better.

Unfortunately, I think your essays was not very convincing and it would probably not have scored very high.

Another point to take note of. Don’t use exclamation marks. There are far better ways to emphasize certain sentences than this!

Good luck…

But how much would u grade me?

2 out of 12… Your grammar makes me cry. DON’T worry. You’re in 7th grade, you have lots of time. Just keep practicing. Not to forget, you should see some essays before you write them. That way you will know how its written…

0 out of 12 you didn’t really answer the question in my opinion. The question was “Is preparing for the future more important than enjoying the present?” and you answered that if people think about the present there would be no future.

You get no marks for not answering the question so make sure you really answering it

Also, the SAT will be totally different when you take it, so just quit.

I agree with the others. My little brother’s a freshman in high school, and the SAT will change before he takes it. No reason to start practicing now. What you should do is make sure to get good grades in school–especially algebra, geometry, etc. You can’t just cram for the math section, at least very easily. Learning techniques years beforehand will help when you actually take it. Also, your writing? Middle school writing almost always sucks. By the time you’re in high school, it’ll be much more improved. But you’ve got a good 3, 4 years. Chill.

Yes, I agree with the scores, it was my first try, I was frustrated, and also wanted to know how essay 12 actually works… Does anyone know a place where I can improve my essay writing…

I would not give you anything over a 3. Your essay just isn’t up to the mark.
Stop worrying, you are just in the 7th grade. Also, the SAT pattern will change by the time you take it.

On another note, it is either Mahatma Gandhi or Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Using Mahatma Mondras Gandhi is just wrong.
