Can suny Binghamton be considered my safety?

<p>Well, I haven't yet applied to Bing (deadline is in 5 days and app takes only the click of a button practically), but after reading a bunch of stories on CC about top kids getting rejected from almost every school, I'm getting a bit nervous. </p>

<p>I applied to Columbia (dream), Penn, Cornell (dual app), JHU, NYU, Macaulay Honors at Hunter, and Sophie Davis. </p>

<p>My essay is reputedly awesome (with supplements being decent to good).</p>

<p>I have awesome ecs that are stacked with leadership positions that are significant to me, and my community service is OK (250 hours).</p>

<p>My recs are also reputedly awesome, my counselor even loves me.</p>

<p>My stats are 1440 (700 CR 740 M)
96.1/100 UW
730 US 730 Math 1
Rank: 2/35
Oh, and I come from a school that hasn't sent a kid to a top school in ages.</p>

<p>So, can I apply to bing now and consider it my safety?</p>

<p>P.S. I dont want people to be offended- I know there are a bunch of well qualified applicants that dream of Bing. I just need a safety considering my other schools all have ridiculously low acceptance rates- I do actually like the school- plus, my cousin went there and loved it.</p>

<p>My other safety btw is CUNY Hunter (if Macaulay rejects)</p>

<p>i would consider it a safety, but if you have any doubts, applying to another safety wouldn’t hurt. i don’t think you have to worry about being rejected from binghamton, but assuming cost of app fees isn’t an issue, just the fact that you’re worried about it is reason enough to add another safety just to make yourself feel more secure.</p>

<p>I’d say you have a very decent chance but I don’t know if I’d be confident enough to make it my only safety. Check the last couple of pages of this thread to see the people with very good stats being deferred. However, since you have Hunter on there, you should be fine.</p>

<p>It’s definitely a safety for you. I would not worry in terms of your stats, etc. Just make sure yoiur application is complete before the deadline and follow up.</p>
