can excess volunteering be a hook? like 1000 hours or something, for an organization where you are really commited to?

<p>No, it just shows that you're passionate at an activity. That's a good thing but not entirely unique.</p>

<p>2000 hours of volunteering CAN be a hook, so can far less. It isn't the quantity, it's what you DID that counts.</p>

<p>An EC that would be a hook would be something like starting a charitable program and rolling it out nationally. The real big EC hook is being a recruited athlete.</p>
