Can transfer applicants defer admission?

So here's the deal. I have applied for admission for Fall 2011 to several private liberal arts schools. I want to study abroad and since currently I am at a large public institution, it would be far cheaper for me to study abroad at my current school then when I transfer. I was thinking I could study abroad in fall and then start school Spring 2012 at my new college, but I'm not sure that is a feasible option. Does anybody know if schools will allow this?

This would totally depend on the school but I would say it’s more likely they won’t defer. You should apply for the term you want to transfer. Calling the schools is the only way to find out for sure.

I’m not sure about EVERY school however, the schools I applied to allowed transfer students defer their admission for a semester.
