Accepted to Transfer - Decided to Wait

I am currently a first semester freshman at my current University. I wanted to attend my dream school the University of Minnesota, however, my parents decided they want me to wait until the Fall of 2013 to transfer.

I went ahead and applied to transfer for the Spring of 2013, and was accepted. The base it on my high school creditentials since I don't have atleast 26 college credits.

Instead I will be applying for the Fall of 2013, at the beginning of Janurary. Do you think they will still accept me? Does it look bad that I was already accepted and declined to go?

I hope to have atleast a 3.5 GPA this first semester, so they only new thing that will be sent to them is my official transcript from my first semester.

BTW. I am looking to get into their College of Liberal Arts again....

When they go to decide for the Fall of 2013, they will have to look at my High School things again.

They only problem I forsee is that it will be the beginning of a new school year so all the new freshmen will be coming in, with less people dropping than they did for the Spring. Also, will admissions for transfers become tighter?

You can just defer your acceptance to the fall.

^^ Correct, deferring is an option! You can call admissions and explain that your family has agreed that it would be best to “defer your offer of admission until fall of 2013”. You don’t have to explain anything, but often financial reasons are the main reason for deferring matriculation. You do not have to go through the entire transfer application process all over again if you get the deferment paperwork in place, so call someone today and find out what needs to be done! Most colleges will grant a full semester to defer and many grant a full year.

UMM offers a full year to defer. I don’t know what Twin Cities offers, but find out!
