Can unspecified Teacher Rec Letters be not junior/senior?

Hello!

If a college asks for teacher rec letter(s), but does not specify or mention junior/senior teachers only, can it be a sophomore teacher?
I really need to know because one of two teachers I’ve asked is my sophomore teacher but he would write me a really good letter because he likes me and I enjoyed having him as a teacher.
I asked my teachers for rec letter (really late I know) and I need to tell them which schools I need letters for. I don’t care if its not recommended as long as it is allowed.

Basically if a college says they require “Teacher rec letters” does that mean I can use a sophomore teacher?

Please answer with any information you have, thanks!

Yes soph year teachers are allowed. Very competitive colleges prefer Jr or Sr year instructors b/c those generally tend to be academically more rigorous and might be able to display more of how you’d interact and react in those circumstances. At a minimum, make sure this soph year teacher is in a core academic class.

Yes, it does. I’m doing the same thing for schools with unspecified requirements.
